Health and Safety

Wildgoose Construction Ltd takes Health and Safety seriously in all our construction activities, a promise made by John Wildgoose, the father of the current chairman, who was instrumental in the founding of the North Derbyshire Health and Safety Group.

Working on live sites such as educational and healthcare, creates specific Health and Safety problems, where the movement and activities of hundreds of people must be considered when formulating the site safety plan.

A detailed construction phase Health and Safety Plan is developed by our resident Health and Safety Manager and, in conjunction with the client or their agent, develop a working plan to agree access and egress routes to all main areas, ensuring safety at all times.

Very close liaison is maintained with all facility managers to ensure the impact of construction work does not adversely affect the building function, the events time table or the safety of the public or staff.

Our detailed Health and Safety policy is in accordance with the principals of ISO 18001 and is monitored and reviewed on an annual basis to ensure compliance with the latest procedures and regulations.

We have been rewarded for our outstanding Health and Safety record, by the winning in 2008 of the Health and Safety Gold Award, which follows on from 5 successive years of awards in the same field. We have also been successful in gaining two National Awards from the ‘Considerate Constructors’ organisation in 2009.
